Laboratory reagents, kits and solutions

In vitro diagnostics: reagents, kits, calibrators and control materials for laboratory analysis.

Where it is used

  • Clinical chemistry analysis of body fluids
  • Immunoassay analysis for antigens and antibodies
  • Haematology and coagulation analysis
  • Microbiological culture and identification
  • Molecular analysis for the detection of nucleic acids
  • Quality control and calibration of measurements

Product types

Clinical chemistry and immunoassay

Clinical chemistry reagents measure the quantity of analytes, such as glucose or enzymes, in a patient's biological fluids. Immunoassay reagents and kits detect specific antigens or antibodies, using the binding between them to produce a measurable signal.

Haematology and coagulation

Haematology reagents analyse the number, size and features of blood cells. Coagulation reagents measure clotting time and clotting factors, helping to assess a patient's bleeding or clotting risk.

Microbiology and molecular biology

Culture media and microbiological identification kits grow and identify the microorganism responsible for an infection. Molecular assay kits detect nucleic acids, allowing faster or more sensitive identification than conventional culture in certain situations.

Calibration and quality control

Calibrators have known values and are used to set or adjust a measuring system's reference, typically with each new reagent lot. Control materials have an expected range and are run routinely, not to adjust the system, but to verify that it continues to perform correctly between calibrations.

Sample preparation

Buffers, diluents and wash solutions prepare the sample or the instrument before and during analysis, maintaining the conditions an accurate measurement depends on. Consumables such as tubes and tips support the laboratory's day-to-day analytical work.
